Why does a tooth need extraction?
Tooth extraction in children
The specialists at Medical Dent Dental Clinic are aware that there is no way a procedure like tooth extraction can evoke positive emotions in anyone. At least in a child. That is why we have long focused our efforts on reducing fear and stress in our young patients, and making the procedure itself as easy and painless as possible. Like a game!
Causes Of Treatment
When should a child's tooth be extracted?
We will only proceed with extraction of a tooth in two cases – if it cannot be saved or if it is not advisable to save it. No good dentist will recommend early extraction of a baby tooth!
The reason is that children’s milk teeth fall out anyway at some point in development and give way to permanent ones. This occurs approximately between the fifth and tenth year of the child. While they are in place, however, the deciduous teeth play a key role in jaw development and proper dentition for the rest of life. So they shouldn’t be pulled out until they “decide” that themselves and start shaking. Most often this happens first with the front teeth, and then with the chewing teeth.
We can help you when this process has started. First of all, the dentist will assess whether it is already time for mechanical intervention and tooth extraction. Don’t rush to do it at home if you’re not sure it’s time!
Serious tooth decay or other complicated disease is the second reason why a tooth may need to be extracted. We hasten to assure you that this is a perfectly safe and routine procedure – as long as it is performed by a professional. And at Medical Dent Dental Clinic, we are proud of our pediatric dental health specialists!
Here’s what to expect:
Local anesthesia
Only if needed! If the cog wobbles, we may not have to use it. But in other cases, we apply local anesthesia to ensure painless tooth extraction. For this purpose, we inject medication into the area around the diseased tooth. We will discuss your child’s health history with you in detail beforehand to make sure that the medication chosen is safe for them.
Speed and efficiency
Tooth extraction in children is usually a quick and effective procedure. In modern conditions it could literally take a few minutes. Of course, it is important that this is done in strict compliance with the protocol and especially with the requirements for impeccable hygiene. We can guarantee that at Medical Dent this is exactly the case!
Attention, fun, play
Medical Dent Dental Clinic’s mission is to change the reputation of dental offices as a scary and unpleasant place for children. Here, the treatment of young patients takes the form of play and fun. We have equipped a children’s corner especially for them to distract them from the medical procedures. And we conduct them with care, understanding and tenderness. So that the child takes sitting in the chair as a challenge. And treating it as a heroic act to be proud of.
